The U. S. A. is not a True Democracy

I know — that’s stating the obvious. But in this dystopia, I’ve noticed, the obvious is bizarrely not obvious to many.

Assaults on women’s, BIPOC people’s, and LGBTQIA+ autonomy, well-being, and rights are assaults on constitutional democracy. A country in which half the population is marginalized and subjugated is no democracy. A country in which half the population isn’t considered fully human is no democracy.

It’s no coincidence that the same billionaire-funded organizations that assault abortion rights also assault transgender rights.

Republifascists are white supremacist patriarchs who feel threatened by anything and anyone incompatible with traditional white supremacist heteropatriarchy. Because feminism, civil rights, and LGBTQIA+ rights and perspectives have become more mainstream in recent decades, white supremacist patriarchs are lashing out at us.

Unfortunately, this isn’t just relatives at Thanksgiving or customers spewing their delusions at underpaid retail employees. It’s organized and systemic attacks. This includes the Republican party, the Federalists, the Heritage Foundation, etc. (see the podcast The Anti-Trans Hate Machine). Lawmakers, school boards, bigoted parents, and the like are chipping away at our rights as much as they can, testing to see how much they can get away with.

Part of the problem is that the twice-impeached toilet demon deliberately stacked the courts with forced birthers to take away Roe v. Wade… and it worked. So now we have many unelected and unqualified Christofascist judges (such as Matt Cocksmirk wreaking havoc in Texas) making hateful and abusive decisions because they can get away with it in this profoundly flawed system. Nobody nominated by the toilet demon should be a judge, period. We’re stuck with these fascists acting like absolute monarchs until they retire, and many of them are young, so that’s decades of this nightmare situation… unless they’re impeached or otherwise lose their undeserved positions.

We need to go back to having the Voting Rights Act in the condition it was in before 2013, before John Roberts pretended to be too naïve to understand that systemic racism and white supremacy are still alive in this country and that we therefore need laws like the Voting Rights Act. It…
