Out of the Closet Bigots
Today I blocked countless bigots on Facebook. In a Facebook group, all the author of the page did was use a beautiful rainbow flag watercolor backdrop and post a positive quote. So many willfully ignorant bigots came out of the woodwork, posting disgusting comments.
To those cis het people who can’t wrap their heads around why on earth LGBTQIA+ people celebrate their orientations and identities for an entire month (although we celebrate it quietly all year):
Has your identity/sexual and/ or romantic orientation been vilified or erased? Have you been ridiculed, insulted, bullied, slandered, gaslighted, beaten up, imprisoned, or killed because of your identity/orientation? Have you had conversations with relatives pressuring you to pretend you share their orientation? Has your orientation ever been illegal? Has your identity or orientation ever been anything other than the one identity/orientation that’s treated like the default? Check your privileges.
To those cis het people who flaunt their religion and use it against us: arrogant, smug, and self-righteous Goddess-rejecting monotheist hypocrites like you are why I shifted from being merely uninterested in Christianity to having an intense dislike of it. If you’re using religion to perpetuate patriarchy and bigotry, you’re not spiritual, and you’re not worth my time.
