Oregon & Abortion Providers

Almost 90% of U. S. counties lack even one abortion provider. This is utter madness. Oregon needs to have clinics and hospitals (yes, hospitals) that perform abortions in every city and town.

I appreciate the organization Rise Up 4 Abortion Rights and their reminder that Roe v. Wade hasn’t been overturned and we need to march in the streets and be loud until we’ve made sure abortion remains legal in this country.

But Oregon needs to compensate for shitstates that have illegally banned abortion (with carte blanche from the fascists on the Supreme Court). Whether or not Roe is overturned, Oregon needs to be able to provide abortions in every town and city.

We need to be more proactive. The fascists on the Supreme Court have made it clear they want to take the whole country back to the days when women were accused of witchcraft and hanged. This is utterly evil and insane.

(I am glad that Oregon now allows midwives, doulas, and others who are not doctors to perform abortions. It reminds me of the Jane’sfrom the early 1970s, a time when abortion was still officially illegal in most states.)
