Odd Message from a Stranger
A stranger sent me a Goodreads message asking why my "Want to Read," "Am reading," and "Read" books don't add up properly. They pointed out that the three categories in their account adds up to the total number of their books.
I suppose I could... politely... reply that I have no idea, unless it's because I discovered that I can change "Read" books to "Currently reading" when I'm rereading them. Plus after I finished reading _We Light the Dark on Fire_by Tehlor Kay Mejia, my Goodreads account kept refusing to change it to "Read;" when it finally did, the book was listed twice as "Read." But that glitch only covers one book.
I could refrain from replying, but if I did they might suspect me of hacking or something. The only hacking I do is a cough, because wilderness fires surround me.
I definitely won’t reply with my anxiety-filled gut reaction:
"Are you accusing me of something? Do you often add up the numbers of books in people's Goodreads accounts? Shouldn't you be reading a book instead of counting my Goodreads books and sending weird messages? I've got other things on my mind, like the rise of fascism, a pandemic, and wildfires that have made the air hazardous... and should I wipe the ashes off my car and tear out all the bushes near my house and replace them with rocks.... FYI, I'm allergic to math, so bye."
