Misogynistic Narcissist Handyman

I’ve had plenty of managers, supervisors, coworkers, and customers who treated me with plenty of contempt and disrespect, but you’d think people I hire would behave better.

It took me five days to finally be certain that the handyman, Manipulative Misogynist, isn’t returning to finish the work I paid him to do on my house. He only halfway painted an upstairs window frame (and who stops in the middle of painting a window frame, anyway?); it’s upstairs, and I have acrophobia, so that’s the only step he hasn’t finished that I can’t do. That phallic ladder he left behind is really heavy. #overcompensating

A local friend told me about a similar situation she had. A blatant misogynist only painted half her house after saying things like, “I don’t want to hear any of that feminist crap” and looking at her fence and saying, “I can climb over that!” He was reminding her that no matter what property-owning women do, patriarchal predators can still rape them and can still trespass on their property. Charming.

Until fairly recently — the 1970s — women in this country couldn’t even legally buy a house or get a credit card without a husband or father signing the paperwork. (This is one of the reasons I’m so thankful I own my very own house — free of toxic relatives breaking in whenever they want.) I have a theory: patriarchal assholes who can’t afford to buy a house continue to believe that only men are entitled to buy houses.
