Miniature Edwardian Rooms

After purchasing a used Victorian-style dollhouse and redecorating it, I feel like making other miniature rooms using display boxes, each containing two rooms. I enjoy interiors more than exteriors, so it makes sense to make perhaps an entire Edwardian home with these display boxes.

The library… with Colonel Mustard and the candlestick. I set this furniture up temporarily because it wants a home & I haven’t finished assembling and staining bookcases.

I removed masking tape, framed the library and study, and put up the overhead lights.

Here’s the entrance from the library to the study. I just might add a bookcase with a secret door.

The frame is just narrow strips of wood. I’ve been acting like they’re optional, but they do add a finishing touch.

The study, which is right next to the library. This furniture — among other things — will remain in this room. Eventually I intend to add some Sherlock Holmes references, such as newspaper and books.

Next I measured and cut the wood (baseboards, crown molding, and picture rails) for the two pale rooms (children’s bedroom and school room). I lay them out on spaghetti and painted them white. (A dollhouse kit instructions recommended spaghetti because it’s supposed to stick less than newspaper.)

The two wallpapered rooms: These will be a child’s bedroom (left), and a school room (right). Down below is a hair of unfinished rooms and the breakfast nook furniture.
