Millicent and Jocelyn’s New Home
For my used Victorian-style dollhouse: I decided that it’s 1884 and Millicent inherited a farmhouse in Pennsylvania, near Philadelphia. She and her life partner Jocelyn move into the house. They’re both artists and Aesthetes, so a large second-floor room is a studio.
Millicent and Jocelyn have just moved into the house in October. They’re having a housewarming party with an autumnal theme — complete with pumpkins and jack-o’-lanterns. Guests bring flowers (hence the many bouquets of flowers all over the house). The cook baked Halloween-themed cakes and cookies. Guests gather on the mansard roofs, which have elegant patio furniture, including two circular tables with matching chairs. I’m picturing guests gathered around tables covered with cakes and bottles of wine and such.
Many of the guests are artistic friends; some of whom live in Philadelphia (which is a few miles away). Some guests are neighbors who feel apprehensive and disapproving. They don’t know what to think of these two Aesthetic women moving in. One of them is…
