I Woke and Heard a Noise

My apologies to Edgar Allen Poe and his poem “The Raven.” These words popped into my head before dawn.
Once upon a midnight weary,
While I dozed off
Drunk and bleary
Over many a soft and silky
Cushion upon which I snore.
Suddenly there came a tapping,
As of something gently rapping,
Rapping at my cold glass door.
It was rain and nothing more.
