From Indiana to New York State
My dad and I traveled to Cambridge, Massachusetts in 2011 because his sister died unexpectedly. I lived in Portland, Oregon, and he lived in NW Indiana, an hour from Chicago.
Massachusetts Part 3
Indiana
I found some exciting things in my parents’ scary basement: all the photos I took in continental Europe when I was 17, a notebook of things I wrote as a teen, a notebook full of undergraduate notes, an envelope full of scripts from a scriptwriting class (including a Doctor Who episode I wrote), an envelope full of something my now-deceased step-grandfather (on my dad’s side of the family) wrote and sent me, and some undergraduate term papers. I’ve sealed a package to send myself.
Honeycat is a dog trapped in a cat’s body. Pet me pet me pet me! Don’t go to sleep! Keep petting me for hours!

“New York City is under mandatory evacuation for the first time in history.”
I just heard that on the news, the weather channel. My dad and I are just outside Buffalo, NY, on the way to Cambridge, MA (for Aunt Barbara’s memorial service, etc.). Hurricane Irene could get in our way, unfortunately, if it strikes Cambridge and Boston.
The NYC airports are closed, and public transportation in the city is cancelled. I’m just…
