A kitty with a book I keep on my altar

If someone who’s toxic… perhaps they have bad energy, or they’re verbally and/or psychologically abusive (such as manipulative, for instance), and/or they’re a bigot, whether they’re racist, misogynistic, transphobic, and/or otherwise bigoted — anyway, if someone like that has been in or near your home, it’s time to cleanse your home of their energy.

I just burned a sage bundle all over my property. It’s still burning in a little cauldron in the meditation room, so I opened a window just above the altar.

I walked around moving the sage bundle clockwise in a circle. Outside, circumambulating my property, I periodically whispered, “Purge cooties. Purge misogyny. Purge narcissism. Purge sociopathy.” And variations thereof. Once I went indoors, I switched to a goddess chant: “Isis, Astarte, Diana, Hecate, Demeter, Kali, Inanna….” Better mood.

I think it’s time I revisit Ariel Gore’s wonderful book, Hexing the Patriarchy. I need to resume reading (and journaling in response to) the book I Don’t Want to be an Empath Anymore: How to Reclaim Your Power Over Emotional Overwhelm, Build Better Boundaries, and Create a Life of Grace and Ease by Ora North.
