My dad and I drove from Portland, Oregon to Vancouver and Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, and to Seattle, Washington, in May 2012.

The Millenium Gate — Chinatown, Vancouver, BC, Canada

My dad and I took the skytrain to Chinatown. The skytrain is like a subway but… some of it is high above ground, so those sections are kind of the opposite of a subway. We visited the beautiful Chinese Garden (which looks quite a bit like the one in Portland).

We wandered around Chinatown and into shops for a gratuitously (and satisfyingly) long time. We had lunch at Jade Dragon, a traditional and dim sum Chinese restaurant (and hot green tea is delightful after you’ve been walking around on a cold, rainy day). After lunch we continued walking around Chinatown.
