A Conversation About Cultural & Historical Erasure

8 min readAug 4, 2025

I had a wonderful and inspiring conversation with a friend via texting… instead of doing yard work.

When I let her know that I copied and pasted my end of the texting conversation into my Note app so I can publish an essay or two on Medium, she replied, “You can put my stuff, ‘my interlocutor,’ in quotes, if you want.” Ultimately, I decided that for now I can publish it like an interview, and later I can base on essay or two on this: one essay about Goddess Spirituality & the erasure of the Divine Feminine, and another essay about the erasure of history that isn’t cis het white male supremacist propaganda.

Me: YouTube is so toxic. One day you’re watching a 60 Minutes Australia episode about Jeffrey Epstein… and the next day YouTube wants you to believe conspiracy theories like “Epstein isn’t dead — he disguised himself with a face lift & moved to another country” and insinuations that Bill Clinton was part of a murderous cult (or something cray-cray like that —

I closed the app quickly).

Me: Admittedly today I watched a video that was an interview with Epstein’s niece. She was drugged & sexually abused as a child, but allegedly there was a cult involved. It sounded too much like the Satanic Panic.
